I love what I do. I help a variety of organizations improve their digital presence and build community.
Primarily, I’m a web content and design specialist for the research mission at Penn State Hershey College of Medicine at Hershey Medical Center. In this role, I support the web presence of the research mission on both the Liferay and WordPress CMS platforms, but more importantly, I support the research team members, helping them tell their stories online.
I’m also a columnist for my hometown news provider, the York (Pa.) Daily Record/Sunday News, where I previously worked full-time for 15 years. I write regularly about life in our town at my blog, Only in York County, and in a weekly print column.
I also provide contracted customer-service and digital development and management services for a variety of companies. My current favorite is providing virtual support for Pippity, a WordPress plugin that creates perfectly pleasing popups. I’d like it even if it wasn’t alliterative, but that’s a nice bonus.
And most fun of all, I’m the owner and writer of Unschool Rules, our family’s website about our radical unschooling lifestyle.
From 2011 to 2014, I served as writer, editor and manager for Man Vs. Debt, a personal finance and lifestyle design brand owned by Adam Baker. The site and its You Vs. Debt course helped a thriving community of thousands improve their lives under the motto “Sell your crap. Pay off your debt. Do what you love.” While those sites are no longer active, I’m proud to have been a part of the MvD worldwide community.
